PRESENTATION TOPIC SPEECH #1

 




Welcome to Presentation Topic Speech #1. 

The topic speech, is an activity of a major importante for the English class because:

1. You are going to make a deep research of a new topic.

2. You have to work autonomously and cope with the deadlines (time limits)

3. To build up your research you are entitled to use computers at school and or at home. It is your personal responsibility to find the time and ways to cope with the deadlines. 

4. Each topic will be different, but you will be given a framework (structure to be followed).

5. In this topic speech you have to deliver, descriptive and argumentative speech about famous audiovisual productions. 

6. Topic speech is entirely prepared using online resources.

7. Final oral presentation must be accompanied by a full picture google slides / canva / power point presentation. 


SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR YOUR PRESENTATION


TOPIC: Someone special for me.

DATES: Written stage (end of July) - Oral presentation (August)

LENGTH: 1:30 to 2:00 minutes.


Objective: To introduce someone very special for you.

Objective of the writing: 

  • To improve your written skills by answering questions clearly, using complete sentences and connecting ideas smoothly.


Objectives of the final outcome: 
  1. To research and write about a specific person, using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  2. To produce well-structured sentences and paragraphs following the suggested format.
  3. To use persuasive language and time sequencers (FIRST, THEN, AFTER THAT, FINALLY) effectively in writing.
  4. To express ideas clearly and meaningfully in oral presentations.





PARAGRAPH FRAMEWORK

1. WHO ARE YOU?
  • What is your first name?
  • What is your last name?
  • How old are you?
  • What is your nationality?
  • Where do you live?
  • What is the name of your neighborhood?

2. WHO IS YOUR SPECIAL PERSON? 
  • What is his/her first name?
  • What is his/her second name?
  • How old is he/she?
  • What is his/her profession?
  • Where does he/she work?
  • Where does he/she live?
  • Why is he/she so special for you? (provide 2 strong reasons!)

3. MY SPECIAL PERSON ROUTINE

In this part you are expected to tell your classmates what your special person's routine is. Therefore, you are invited to use sequencing linking words / connectors to make your writing easy to comprehend. 




4. FINAL MESSAGE
  • Why should you all have this special person in your lives?
  • What does this person different from others?
  • What does / movie / serie reminds you of him / her?




EVALUATION CRITERIA

WRITTEN TEXT
  1. Good use of English, grammar and vocabulary.
  2. Correct use of capitalization and punctuation.
  3. Proper formatting of your work, including well-structured paragraphs with accurate information.
  4. Autonomy at school work.
  5. Intensive use of online dictionary instead of online translator.
  6. Effective use of descriptive language throughout the text.
  7. Appropriate use of connectors and verbs.

ORAL EVALUATION

  1. Knowledge of the topic; self-confidence; makes eye contact with the audience; uses appropriate tone to be heard in the room; shows positive attitude during the presentation 
  2. Adequate pronunciation 
  3. Memorization of texts 
  4. Fluency in speaking English 
  5. Correspondence between slides and speech.
